Architectonics of Typography
Barragan was a very religious person and as a boy, he would regularly attend prayer. Spending time in the chapel, specifically in cloisters, was where he first found and appreciated the serenity that he found there.
It was this feeling that really stuck with Barragan throughout his life and career. This feeling of serenity is what he would always strive to achieve in his work and architectural design.
Serenity is the idea that I have found and tried to apply in my design for this project. However, there are opposing forces that help to achieve serenity as it can only exist in a state opposite of agitation, commotion, and pandemonium. There is no light without darkness, just as there is no serenity without agitation. Nothing can exist if its direct opposite does not also exist. Therefore, I have tried to create the two opposite forces so that serenity can exist in this project.
